State teaching award for psychologist from Landau

Dr. Ute Waschulewski is one of ten lecturers who have been awarded the "Rhineland-Palatinate Teaching Prize" by Science Minister Prof. Dr. Konrad Wolf. Every two years, the state honors outstanding achievements and special commitment by lecturers at its universities with this award. The winners each receive prize money of 10,000 euros, which they are free to use for official purposes.

The psychologist Waschulewski has been teaching educational science and the basics of special education at the University of Landau since 2006. She was nominated for the state's teaching award by the student representatives on the council of Department 5: Educational Sciences. As a psychologist, the relationship with people and thus the development of a good relationship with the students is of essential importance to her. In addition to empathy and humanity, Waschulewski's creativity and humor are central elements of her teaching. Supporting and advising her students is also important to her. "It means a lot to me to provide students with good support for their presentations, seminar papers and theses," says the Hamburg native. "I want to motivate them to be creative and dare to do something."

In order to do justice to the different sizes of the various universities and also the differences between universities and universities of applied sciences, the teaching prizes are awarded according to groups. Accordingly, the universities receive a total of six and the universities of applied sciences four teaching awards in two subject groups each. The Ministry of Science has once again commissioned the Southwest University Evaluation Association with the central organization required for awarding the teaching prize.
