Teaching

The Research Unit “History of Education” has an international focus and is interested in the educational ecology approach, which considers pedagogical thinking and action in relation to both the human and non-human environment. Examining the overlaps, relationships and connections between education and society – such as the economy, culture and politics – from an ecological perspective, the research unit explores the potential for synergies with academic and non-academic partners. These include those in public history, university-community engagement, visual studies, art, geography, environmental sciences, architecture, urban planning, social pedagogy and migration research. In line with this particular research interest, the international research group “History of Educational Ecologies” (HEC) was founded within the research unit. Its members are affiliated with the research unit as international research fellows. Further information can be found at: https://historyofeducationalecologies.wordpress.com/.
